PSY 309 - Personality Psychology

All assignments are posted on Blackboard. Due 1/25: Assignment 1 Write a 2-page paper answering the following questions: 1. Think about how you see yourself and how you think other people see you. What do you think are the differences between how you see yourself and how other people see you? Give specific examples. In general, do you think you are more accurate or are other people more accurate? Why? (1 page) 2. Think of the person you know best (besides yourself). What do you know about this person that this person does not know about themselves? Do you know anything about their personality that they don't know? Give specific examples. What are some possible reasons why they are unaware of these things even though you are aware of them? (1 page) Due 4/5: Assignment 2 Write a 1-page paper answering the following question: Think about a time when you learned something you didn't know about yourself. How did you learn it (e.g., did someone tell you, did you observe it yourself, etc.)? What effect did it have on your mood, your self-esteem, your self-knowledge, and how you think about your own personality? Did it change your behavior? Were the effects long-term or only short-term? Overall, are you glad that you learned this about yourself, or do you think you would have been better off not knowing? Due 4/28: Final Project (download)
